PHOENIX -- A statewide crackdown on drunken drivers in Arizona during the holiday season is set to begin Dec. 3.

Governor's Office of Highway Safety director Alberto Gutier said more than 70 police agencies in the state will take part in the special patrols.

Some agencies participating in the crackdown are planning to get an early start by launching patrols late this weekend.

The statewide crackdown is scheduled to end Jan. 1.
