PHOENIX -- Funeral services for former Arizona legislator Ben Miranda are scheduled for next week in Phoenix.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday morning at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will take place that afternoon at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
A public celebration of his life will follow at the American Legion Post 41.
Miranda died last week at the age of 64. He was remembered as a longtime advocate for the Latino community.
He served in the Arizona House from 2003 through 2010. Miranda's wife, Catherine Miranda, now holds the seat.
Most recently, he was elected to serve on the Maricopa County Community College District governing board. He also served on the governing boards of two public school districts.
Miranda was also a Vietnam veteran.
