PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Prescott police say a man armed with knives was shot and killed after charging at an officer.

The shooting happen Tuesday after the officer responded to a report of a suicidal threat.

Prescott police spokesman Clayton Heath says the 44-year-old man ignored the officer's commands and then headed toward him. That's when the man was shot.

Two other officers performed CPR until rescue units arrived. The man was then transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Police have not released the man's name or the name of the officer who was involved. The officer will be placed on standard administrative leave pending an investigation.
