Horne's lawsuit says the Arizona Public Integrity Alliance's ads incorrectly said he is being investigated by the FBI. In fact, the FBI closed its investigation of Horne more than a year ago.

The suit reported by the Arizona Capitol Times alleges the conservative group knew the ads were incorrect. The Alliance removed the FBI reference after receiving a cease and desist letter from Horne.

Horne spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham confirmed the filing. Alliance attorney Kory Langhofer declined to comment to The Associated Press, but Langhofer did tell the Capitol Times the ad mostly referred to campaign finance violation accusations pending against Horne and mentioning the FBI probe was immaterial.
