PHOENIX -- Bond has been set at $20,000 for a man accused of leading authorities on an hourlong, high-speed chase through the West Valley in a stolen luxury car.

Maricopa County prosecutors said 19-year-old Austin Mathew Straps had his initial court appearance Thursday.

He doesn't have an attorney yet and his next scheduled court date is on Nov. 20.

Straps, of Casa Grande, is facing charges of burglary, unlawful flight and aggravated assault on law enforcement officers.

Authorities said the driver of the BMW ignored red lights, cut corners while speeding through turns and recklessly passed several other vehicles, including golf carts, Wednesday morning. The ride began near Interstate 10 and Thomas Road.

The driver bailed out of the car near 107th Avenue and Happy Valley Parkway after the car blew a tire. He ran into a vacant home, where he was arrested.
