PHOENIX -- A Phoenix-based international relief organization dispatched a field team to the Philippines this week after a devastating typhoon struck the island nation.

Pete Howard with Food for the Hungry said the team is working to raise money to provide food, water and shelter to those affected by the storm.

"Our teams on the ground are preparing for the worst and are ready to do what they can to help those people who are suffering," he said, adding that the team is focusing on those who have been displaced to evacuation centers.

The team is working to raise $100,000.
