TUCSON, Ariz. -- Interrupting a campus tradition, the University of Arizona's homecoming this weekend won't feature a huge bonfire.
According to the Arizona Daily Star, officials said the normal location for the bonfire is unavailable.
The lawn of Old Main, the Tucson campus' first building, is fenced off for a renovation.
Alumni Association Vice President Jill Hall said officials considered having the bonfire at another site but idea was rejected because heavy traffic is expected on campus for the men's basketball team season opener.
Renovation work is expected to be finished in time for bonfire to return next fall for the school's 100th anniversary of homecoming.
