NOGALES, Ariz. -- A Mexican man with "trusted traveler" status for frequent border crossers is in custody, accused of trying to smuggle more than 35 pounds of methamphetamine into Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales arrested and revoked the Secure Electronic Network for Traveler's Rapid Inspection membership of 49-year-old of Guadalupe Loaiza-Bastidas.

Authorities said Loaiza-Bastidas' van was carrying nearly $548,000 worth of methamphetamine concealed in the rear inside panels Wednesday.

The vehicle and drugs are being processed for seizure.

Loaiza-Bastidas was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations while the 31-year-old driver of the van was released.
