PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Next week's sentencing for a Prescott stockbroker convicted of killing his ex-wife has been delayed.

Steven DeMocker's attorneys had asked for a continuance so that they could interview a sheriff's captain about a recent conversation he had with DeMocker.

The request was granted Thursday in an order from Yavapai County Superior Court.

DeMocker had been scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday, after visiting Judge Gary Donahoe heard oral arguments on a defense motion for a new trial. Those arguments have been reset for Jan. 8.

No new date has been set for sentencing. DeMocker faces up to life in prison in the 2008 death of Carol Kennedy.

Donahoe says no other continuances will be granted.
