PHOENIX — A Valley toddler died Wednesday after being struck by a recycling truck, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.
Rural Metro Fire officials say the Waste Management truck struck the 2-year-old boy near 40th Street and Lone Mountain in Cave Creek, north of Phoenix.
Authorities say the truck apparently was backing up on a narrow dirt road when
the child was struck.
The toddler and other children were playing outside when the accident occurred.
The name of the child has not yet been released.
Rural Metro units and the Phoenix Fire Department both are still at the
accident scene.
