PHOENIX -- Authorities said a man has rescued his mother from her burning mobile home in Surprise.

The woman called her son, Jason Beam, about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday and told him her home was on fire.

Beam lives about a block away and rushed over to help.

The woman was inside looking for her dog when she became trapped. Beam went inside and pulled her from the burning home.

Responding firefighters doused the flames with water to keep the fire from spreading to nearby structures.

A local TV station reported the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation.

Authorities say the burned mobile home is a total loss. No word yet on the fire's cause. ___
