Arizona authorities arrest man after he rams patrol vehicle
PHOENIX -- A man is in custody, accused of ramming an Arizona Department of Public Safety patrol car.
DPS officials alleged that 26-year-old Angel Antonio Flores-Tirado was on his way to deliver supplies to members of a drug cartel at a rest stop near Casa Grande.
A DPS Highway Patrol officer stopped Flores-Tirado about 3 a.m. Monday on Interstate 10 in west Phoenix.
Authorities said Flores-Tirado put his pickup truck in reverse, rammed the patrol car and fled the scene. He was later arrested.
DPS said Flores-Tirado's truck was loaded with survival gear, food, beverages, multiple pairs of walking shoes and camouflage jackets, batteries and cell phones and a loaded 9mm glock handgun and ammunition.
Flores-Tirado is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault on police officer and other charges.
