TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for helping a friend commit suicide has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
Pima County prosecutors say 48-year-old Tyler Christopher Gunn was also ordered Monday to pay the victim's family nearly $4,600.
Gunn was sentenced for the January death of Katherine Lemberg.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that Gunn helped Lemberg commit suicide by taping a bag over her head and connecting it to a helium tank.
Gunn told Tucson police that he helped Lemberg kill herself after weeks of discussions.
The newspaper says Lemberg had a history of depression and she left behind two children.
Police arrested Gunn after his parents found him asleep on the floor in their home with Lemberg's dead body lying on the bed.
