PHOENIX — A small wildfire was reported Monday in the Apache-Sitgreaves Forest in eastern Arizona, the U.S. Forest Service said.
The Whiting Fire has burned about 100 acres so far. The Forest Service said it is not related to a prescribed burn that took place last week.
So far, two bulldozers, three engines, one hotshot crew and one Arizona Department of Corrections crew were on the scene.
It is unknown if the fire is threatening structures. It is currently burning grass, juniper and fallen trees.
Smoke may have been visible from US 60 and State Route 260.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
