NWS: Big cool down ahead for Valley

PHOENIX — After many days of above-normal temperatures this month, the thermometers are going to take a big swing in the opposite direction.

Tuesday’s high will be in the upper 70s and both Wednesday and Thursday should see highs a few degrees cooler.

“[About] 10 to 15 degrees below normal,” said Ken Waters with the National Weather Service. “There could be some rain in this system but mainly in the mountains. We don’t expect much of a chance here in the lower desert areas.”

Nights will be on the brisk side with some outlying Valley communities dipping down into the 40s.

Waters said the cool down is courtesy of a double-barreled system.

“Low pressure system coming down out of the Rockies and another low pressure system sitting out over the Pacific Ocean. These two systems are going to work together and push cold air across Arizona.”
