GILBERT, Ariz. -- Authorities say a freeway accident in Gilbert has left one person dead and injured an Arizona Department of Public Safety employee.

DPS officials say the injured employee is a civilian who was in a truck used to assist motorists.

Authorities say details of the Friday morning accident still are unclear.

The name of the person killed hasn't been released.

The accident closed eastbound Loop 202 at Gilbert Road. Traffic is being routed off the freeway at Gilbert Road and then put back on the freeway on the other side of the Gilbert Road overpass.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the freeway was reopened about 3:15 p.m.
