PHOENIX -- The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has rescheduled two public hearings on a proposed solar project near Maricopa.

The agency said its employees weren't able to prepare for the meetings originally scheduled later this month because of the partial government shutdown.

The meetings on the Maricopa Solar Park Project now will be held Nov. 12 in Goodyear and Nov. 13 in Maricopa.

The BLM is gathering public comments before preparing an environmental impact statement. Those comments are due Dec. 4.

Marisol Energy 2, LLC., has proposed building a 205-megawatt plant on 1,730 acres of BLM land about eight miles west of Maricopa.
