Standoff in Chandler ends with police fatally shooting suspect
PHOENIX -- Chandler police have shot a man suspected of domestic violence who had set his apartment on fire.
Police said they were called late Thursday night to an apartment near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard, where a man and his pregnant girlfriend were arguing. The man was threatening to hurt the woman but once police arrived she was able to escape.
The man then barricaded himself inside, ignored police requests to come out. He eventually tried to set the place on fire.
When he came out of the apartment, officers shot him. Investigators haven't said why officers pulled the trigger.
