PHOENIX -- Authorities say a utility worker has been shot during a mugging in a south Phoenix alley.

Phoenix police say the Century Link employee was driving in an alley about 1 p.m. Tuesday when he was approached by an armed bicyclist wearing a hoodie who demanded the man's wallet.

Authorities say the suspect on the bike shot the worker once in the shoulder as he handed over his wallet.

The gunman then fled the scene.

The victim called police as he drove to a Phoenix hospital and was able to describe the shooter.

Authorities say a man suspected of being the shooter has been arrested, but his name hasn't been released yet.

The wounded worker is expected to recover.
