PHOENIX - Homicide detectives are investigating after a passerby discovered a body lying on the side of a road in North Phoenix.

The victim was identified as a white male between the ages of 30 and 40, according to Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Department.

He was declared dead at the scene, near 7th Street and Deer Valley Road.

Martos said the man's body had obvious signs of trauma.

Police have not released his name.

Phoenix Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact the Phoenix Police Department's Homicide Unit at (602) 262-6141.
