BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- Corrections Department spokesman Doug Nick said officers doing a routine check of an inmate housing dormitory Thursday morning found an inmate with what were described as puncture wounds.

Nick said the inmate was reported to be breathing, conscious and talking.

He was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Nick said the injuries aren't believed to be life threatening.
