PHOENIX – Snowfall in Flagstaff is certainly not a rare occurrence.
David Vonderheide with the National Weather Service says the city is expecting 3-5 inches of snow by tomorrow morning, however, and that is rare for this time of year.
The last time such a significant amount of snow fell on Flagstaff this early in October dates back to 1898.
“What I found looking back at the records dating back to 1898 is that there are only six occurrences in the first 10 days of October where we’ve had snowfall exceeding a trace,” Vonderheide said.
The heaviest snowfall in Flagstaff should hit between 5-9 a.m. Thursday.
