Nevada man arrested in fatal shooting in NW Arizona
DOLAN SPRINGS, Ariz. -- A Nevada man is in custody in connection with a fatal shooting death at a relative's property in northwestern Arizona.
Mohave County Sheriff's officials say 35-year-old Jose Isabel Licea-Mendoza is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Authorities say Licea-Mendoza is the brother-in-law of the property owner, whose name hasn't been released.
Licea-Mendoza allegedly shot the property's caretaker Saturday evening, drove back to Las Vegas the next day and then returned Monday to Dolan Springs.
Sheriff's officials say the caretaker's body was found near a travel trailer. He's from El Salvador and his name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
Authorities say Licea-Mendoza originally told his brother-in-law that he shot the victim, but later denied any involvement.
They say a gun has been recovered and autopsy results are pending.
