PHOENIX -- Gov. Jan Brewer has appointed two new judges to Maricopa County Superior Court.

She announced Monday that Kathleen Mead will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Helene F. Abrams while Rodrick ``Rod'' Coffey is replacing retired Judge Glenn M. Davis.

Mead has been a court commissioner since 2003.

The Arizona State University College of Law graduate previously worked for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office and was a clerk for the Arizona Court of Appeals.

Coffey served as Maricopa County Court Commissioner since 2011 and was a Judge Pro Tempore from 2006 to 2011.

He graduated from Brigham Young University's law school.
