After her battle with breast cancer, a Valley woman set out to make a difference.
Four years ago, Holly Rose founded the Live and Give Foundation, a local non-profit organization that encourages women to do self breast exams and get yearly mammograms.
They also educate women about prevention. The “Don’t be a Chump! Check for a Lump!” program has been effective in motivating women to stay mindful of their breast health.
The foundation also provides custom wigs to breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in Arizona. Rose says when she lost her hair, she realized how important having hair makes you feel.
“It’s your identity as a wife, woman, mother,” she said. “It’s who you are, and you don’t think about it until you lose it.”
Aside from offering wigs, the foundation also offers low-income women access to funds to pay for mammograms.
