TUCSON, Ariz. -- Authorities say a rock climber has been found dead on Mount Lemmon in Tucson.

Pima County Sheriff's officials say Rincon District deputies responded to a rescue call on General Hitchcock Highway shortly after noon Wednesday.

They found 65-year old David Webster dangling from a rock, but were unable to get close enough to assess his medical condition.

The department's Search and Rescue Unit, Southern Arizona Rescue Association and Mount Lemmon Fire Department responded to assist.

Rescue personnel hiked to Webster's location and determined he was dead from unknown causes.

Authorities say Webster was known to be an avid rock climber in the Mount Lemmon area.
