The federal government shut down late Monday night because neither party would compromise.
House Republicans were asking for a one-year delay on the start of the Affordable Health Care Act, while the Democratic Senate rejected the Republicans’ demands twice on Monday.
Now, the government has partially shutdown for the first time in 17 years.
Arizona Senator Jeff Flake tweeted the following:
Nothing good happens after midnight, including government shutdowns. Not Congress' finest hour.
