Phoenix lawyer pleads guilty in fatal hit-and-run
PHOENIX -- A Phoenix lawyer has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an injury accident and a misdemeanor count of DUI.
Maricopa County prosecutors said 43-year-old Aimee Lorine Butel entered her pleas Monday.
She's scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 30.
Butel was arrested in March in the fatal hit-and-run of a woman who was lying naked in the middle of a Phoenix street.
Witnesses told police that the 37-year-old victim began taking her clothes off and ran into the street when she was struck by a car.
Police said a preliminary breath test showed Butel had a blood-alcohol content of 0.129 percent. That's well above the 0.08 percent legal limit to operate a vehicle in Arizona.
Court documents showed Butel, a former county medical examiner, is a personal injury attorney with a Phoenix law firm.
