PHOENIX — Hundreds of the Valley’s jobless veterans joined in Phoenix on Thursday to look for work.
The city hosted a hiring event at the Shrine Auditorium near 40th and Van Buren streets as part of its H.E.R.O. Initiative, which was started last year by Mayor Greg Stanton to help unemployed vets get back to work.
Nearly 400 hundred veterans showed up to apply for positions with nearly two dozen local employers.
Most of the pre-registered veterans also participated in workshops that helped them prepare their resumes and improve interviewing skills.
