FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Two people are slightly injured after a rented helicopter crashed while landing near Flagstaff.
Coconino County Sheriff's officials said the helicopter was about 20 feet off the ground when it went down off Forest Service Road 171 some 12 miles northwest of Flagstaff about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies said a sudden gust of wind may have caused the pilot to lose control.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the mishap.
Sheriff's officials said two passengers complained of shoulder pain and were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center.
A third passenger escaped injury and the pilot suffered minor injuries and wasn't taken to a hospital.
Authorities said the helicopter was transporting the passengers from Mesa's Falcon Field to a shooting event at a Flagstaff-area ranch.
