PHOENIX -- Authorities say three of the four dogs that fatally attacked a 2-year-old boy in Gilbert have been euthanized.

Maricopa Animal Care and Control officials say three pit bull mix dogs were euthanized Tuesday afternoon.

Phoenix TV station KNXV says the dogs' remains are being sent to the state lab to be tested for rabies and officials expect to have the test results by the end of the week.

The one dog that wasn't euthanized will be returned to its owner. The dog was the mother of the three other dogs and reportedly wasn't involved in the Sunday afternoon attack.

A woman was babysitting five children at her home when three of her dogs started fighting. The toddler someone got involved in the fray and later died at a hospital.
