WILLCOX, Ariz. -- Authorities say one horse is dead and one Arizona woman is recovering following a bee attack.

KVOA-TV reports that Cochise County Sheriff's Office said the bees attacked the horse in Willcox on Sunday then turned their wrath on the woman when she tried to save the animal.

Investigators said the woman suffered more than 20 strings to the head.

Police said a 12-year-old Tennessee walking horse died at the scene. Another horse survived the attack.

Deputies said the bee swarm left the area after deputies and Public Safety personnel arrived.
