FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- A $6 million state grant will help Flagstaff buy nearby state trust land to keep it as open space to help keep light pollution away from Lowell Observatory.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the city will use money from a voter-approved $5.5 million bond issue to match the grant approved by the state parks board.

The trust land sought by the city is located on Observatory Mesa.
