PHOENIX — Saddle up, folks. Two Arizona towns are dueling over the title of the “West’s Most Western Town.”
According to Travelers Today, Cave Creek is working to take the title from Scottsdale, who has held if for more than 60 years.
“People come to Cave Creek for the Western experience,” Vincent Francia, the Mayor of Cave Creek said to USA Today. “People go to Scottsdale for the resorts and lifestyle.”
In response to Cave Creek’s move, Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane sent a letter that said some things in the west simply aren’t for sale, including the town’s trademarked slogan.
“More manure is probably shoveled in Scottsdale than anywhere except the U.S. Congress,” Lane wrote.
Francia claimed that “Scottsdale is all hat and no cattle.”
