FLORENCE, Ariz. -- A man suspected of setting two homes on fire near Casa Grande has been taken into custody.

Pinal County Sheriff's officials say 26-year-old Damien Soto was booked Monday on suspicion of two counts of arson.

They say the two abandoned houses were on fire Sunday night.

Authorities say Soto and another man had a heated verbal dispute on the roadway in front of the burning properties.

Soto left the area while the deputy searched the properties to make sure the homes were evacuated.

He was arrested at his sister's home about five miles away.

Sheriff's officials say Soto was wearing shoes with tread that matched the shoe prints left at the arson site.

It was unclear Monday night if Soto has a lawyer yet.
