YARNELL, Ariz. -- A rebuilding effort is underway following a devastating fire in northern Arizona that killed 19 firefighters and destroyed more than 100 homes.

A groundbreaking ceremony and barbecue were held Saturday to mark the milestone for Yarnell residents.

The first home to be rebuilt will belong to Roy and Stacy Pizzirusso. The couple has one of two building permits issued so far for the Yarnell area, and Yavapai County officials said more are in the works.

The Pizzirussos are the first to build because they saved the floor plans to their home, which was among those leveled by the fire.

The Yarnell Hill Recovery Group helped organize the groundbreaking celebration. The group has so far collected $450,000 in donations that will be used to help displaced residents get back in to a home.
