Marana students safe after a school bus crash
MARANA, Ariz. -- Authorities say more than 50 students escaped injury after a school bus accident in southern Arizona.
Marana police say the bus with 55 students aboard collided with a passenger car about 2:10 p.m. Thursday in a bus lane at Estes Elementary School.
Northwest Fire spokesman Capt. Adam Goldberg says 16 students were evaluated at the scene for bumps and bruises but none were transported to a hospital.
School officials say all 55 of the students were released to their parents.
Marana police Sgt. Jose Alvarez says the driver was the only person in the passenger car and was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The name of the man wasn't immediately released.
Alvarez says police are investigating the cause of the crash.
