Another arrest in murders of Arizona philanthropists
PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- Authorities say another suspect in the murders of a Paradise Valley couple last year is in custody.
Paradise Valley police said Wednesday that 29-year-old Barry Michael Hassell II is being held on $1 million bond.
Police say Hassell has been booked into the Maricopa County Jail in downtown Phoenix on suspicion of homicide, burglary and conspiracy.
Authorities believe Hassell was the driver for Michael Crane, who's accused of killing Lawrence and Glenna Shapiro on Jan. 30, 2012.
The bodies of the well-to-do philanthropists in their 70s were found tied up and burned beyond recognition in their home and their luxury car was stolen.
Police say their ongoing investigation of the case led to a grand jury indictment against Hassell.
Authorities didn't immediately know Wednesday if Hassell has a lawyer yet.
