DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- Federal authorities said a Douglas man is in custody, accused of trying to smuggle $300,000 in unreported cash across the southern Arizona border into Mexico.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said a truck driven by 35-year-old Jerry Joseph Del Rio was selected for further outbound inspection at the Douglas port.

CBP officers said they found seven packages of U.S. currency hidden inside a compartment in the truck's cab.

The truck and cash were processed for seizure and Del Rio was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
