NWS: Funnel cloud spotted near Tucson

PHOENIX — A funnel cloud was spotted near Tucson, Ariz. on Monday, the National Weather Service said.
The funnel cloud was reported about 1 p.m. in Mescal, Ariz., which is east of Tucson along Interstate 10.
NWS said the funnel cloud did not touch down.
Fox 11’s Aaron Pickering posted photos of the funnel cloud on his Facebook page. The images showed just how close the funnel cloud was to touching the ground.
Most of Arizona was hit with big storms on Monday. Flash flood warnings were issued for both Maricopa and Pinal counties.
Phoenix police said officers had responded to more than 160 traffic hazard calls throughout the day.
Power was knocked out to about 1,000 Salt River Project customers.
