PHOENIX -- Two women were hospitalized after their car went off a Phoenix bridge and ended up on a dry river bed about 75 feet below.

Police said that the women were hospitalized with serious but non life-threatening injuries after the accident early Sunday morning.

Sgt. Trent Crump said the driver lost control of the car before it hit a concrete barrier and went down a rocky embankment to the river bottom.

It took responders about 30 minutes to remove the women from the car.
