Tempe police arrest 2 more in beating of ASU student

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Two more arrests have been made in the severe beating of an Arizona State University student found covered in blood after being forced into an elevator in an off-campus apartment complex.

Tempe police say 19-year-old Harsimrandeep Bhatti and 21-year-old Joshua Drew James both are being held on suspicion of a single count of unlawful imprisonment.

Both men were arrested Wednesday and arraigned Thursday and ordered held on $3,600 bond. Neither has a lawyer yet.

Police say 19-year-old Kiernan Bates was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of unlawful imprisonment and aggravated assault. He remains jailed on $5,400 bond.

They say surveillance video shows several young men making contact with the victim in the lobby before three of them forced him into an elevator early Monday. The victim's name hasn't been released.
