FLORENCE, Ariz. -- Authorities say a sixth and final suspect has been arrested in connection with a human smuggling operation that left one man dead in Tucson.

Pinal County Sheriff's officials said 39-year-old Gerald Alan Turner was taken into custody Thursday in Phoenix. He's being held on suspicion of homicide, kidnapping and human smuggling plus a parole violation.

Authorities didn't immediately know Friday if Turner has a lawyer.

Sheriff's officials said eight heat exhaustion victims were found July 7 in the back of a U-Haul van at an Interstate 10 gas station at Picacho Peak northwest of Tucson.

One of the eight -- a man from Mexico -- died days later at a Tucson hospital.

Three men and two women believed to be members of the smuggling ring were arrested earlier this month.
