PHOENIX -- Bond has been set at $1 million for a man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend in Phoenix.

Phoenix police said 39-year-old Daniel Patrick Aumiller is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder along with a weapons violation.

They said 48-year-old Alan Lewis Pierce went to Aumiller's home around noon Thursday to talk to his former girlfriend.

Police said Aumiller allegedly shot Pierce and then fled the scene.

Pierce was transported to a Phoenix hospital, where he later died.

Aumiller was later located and arrested.

Phoenix police say Aumiller has four separate felony convictions since October 1996 and was prohibited from possession a gun.

Aumiller doesn't have a lawyer yet.

A status conference for his case is scheduled Sept. 5 with a preliminary hearing four days later.
