PHOENIX -- A Tempe dispensary is offering to help a Mesa family planning to give medical marijuana to their 5-year-old son to treat his seizures.

Phoenix TV station KNXV reports that Harvest of Tempe has offered to provide all the cannabis oil that Zander Welton will need.

The boy's parents said he had his first seizure when he was 9 months old and now has them weekly.

The parents connected with a naturopathic doctor and started the process to administer medical marijuana, which isn't covered by insurance.

The cannabis oil would have cost the Welton family about $300 a week out-of-pocket. They had been reaching out to friends and family for donations.

The Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation center will be monitoring Zander's progress and help guide his twice-a-day dosages.
