TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson man is in custody for allegedly taking his 4-year-old daughter to a drug buy instead of preschool.

Pima County Sheriff's officials said 35-year-old Gary Campbell led deputies on a low-speed chase before being arrested Thursday afternoon.

Campbell was supposed to drop off his daughter at preschool.

When she didn't show up at school, the child's mother called Campbell to find out where they were.

The woman said Campbell told her he bought some drugs and the girl was still with him.

Deputies spotted his vehicle and he was eventually arrested.

Authorities said Campbell is being held on suspicion of endangerment, aggravated DUI with a child and aggravated DUI with a suspended license.

He's also accused of criminal damage, unlawful flight, child abuse and possession of a dangerous drug.
