PHOENIX -- U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema was part of a bipartisan congressional delegation that made a three-day visit to Afghanistan this week.
The Arizona Democrat's office said the delegation went to Afghanistan to see the drawdown of the American military presence and the transition of security responsibilities to Afghan forces.
According to Sinema's office, she met with military personnel as well as civilian Afghan government officials.
The delegation was in Afghanistan on Tuesday through Thursday.
A press release from Sinema's office said the congresswoman said military service runs deep in her family -- a grandfather was a World War II veteran, a brother is a former Marine and another brother is in the Navy.
