PHOENIX -- A portion of the Loop 303 freeway was reopened Thursday morning after being closed overnight on the west side of the Phoenix area because of flooding.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the stretch is between Interstate 10 and Thomas Road.

The storm also caused some local street flooding and downed power lines and trees, with most of that occurring on the west side of the metro area.

Outages knocked out power to an estimated 3,000 customers of Arizona Public Service Co. in Goodyear and Surprise.

A flash flood watch was issued for Mohave County in northwestern Arizona for Thursday afternoon and evening.
