CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -- A Florence couple said it's easy to explain why the pit bull they were shown at a woman's home acted as if it knew the couple.

They said that's because the dog was stolen from their yard two months earlier.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports that Kenny Erickson and Ashley Preston recognized the dog and vice versa.

They'd gone to the home after hearing that a woman was giving away a dog.

They ended up calling police and now have Lexi back.

A sheriff's deputy cited 46-year-old Janice Wolfe. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Florence Municipal Court on Sept. 12 on a charge of possession of stolen property.

There isn't a phone listed for Wolfe, and an online court docket does not list an attorney for her.
