PHOENIX — Banner Estrella Medical Center in west Phoenix celebrated a construction milestone Friday, as the final beam was put in place at the hospital’s patient tower.
The six-story facility near 93rd Avenue and Thomas Road should help keep up with an overflow of patients, said Banner Estrella CEO Deb Krmpotic.
“We are underserved in terms of bed capacity and so this will give us that needed capacity,” Krmpotic said. “It also expands some of our services that are totally maxed out, like our emergency department and our woman and infants.”
The $162 million project should create about 250 jobs when it’s completed in March 2014.
